Hanbo Liu is a pianist, composer, singer, and songwriter. Hailed as "one of the most talented and creative young pianists today" and "an all-around musician," he has peformed over 80 concerts in the United States and China, at important venues including the Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, and United Nations Assembly Hall in New York City, Hong Kong TVB, China Central TV (CCTV) in Beijing, Beijing Olympic Water Cube National Aquatics Center, and Anhui TV Spring Festival Gala. His appearances on the CCTV in Beijing and on the 2020 Anhui TV Spring Festival Gala were broadcasted nationwide in China with millions of viewers.
Hanbo is the first place winner of the prestigious Juilliard Piano Concerto Competition in New York City in 2013, and the first place winner of Supernova Chinese American National Singing Contest in 2014. As a musician, he received the Outstanding Asian Award in New York City in 2015. Thereafter, he has released two original albums "Journey With The Wind" and "Occasionally" by SEE MUSIC (Shanghai), and is producing his third album.
Hanbo has been interviewed by many TV programs and newspapers including CCTV, Hong Kong TVB, SinoVision New York Lounge, The Times of Trenton, Guangdong TV, Tencent Entertainment, The Mirror of Hong Kong, Little Performer Magazine, and Beijing Music Radio. on Feb 4, 2019, He appeared on the NASDAQ big screen in the Time Square of New York City.
Hanbo is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York City. He started formal piano training at age 10. At age 11, he composed his first piece of piano music and performed concerts publically. When he was 14, as the youngest participant, Hanbo won two second prizes in the Lee Piano Competitions and Daniel Piano Competition in United States. At age 15, in one year, he won five piano championships in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia including the Elizabeth Davis Piano Competition and Nora Lichtenberg Piano Competition, and was accepted into the pre-college division of The Juilliard School in New York City, continuing until graduation in 2016 with a master's degree under the instruction of the world renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky.
